You can agree on the amount of child support through mutual discussion. If you cannot reach an agreement on child support, the court will determine the amount.
Child support normally applies until the child turns 18; however, if the child is unable to support themselves, the child support obligation may continue until the child turns 21.
Starting at age 18, child support is paid directly to the child.
